Math
Mathematical Reasoning.
115 minutes total, split into two parts. Part 1 is 5 questions you solve without a calculator — pure number sense, fraction work, and basic algebra. Once you advance to Part 2 you can't go back, but you get the on-screen TI-30XS MultiView calculator and the official formula sheet for the remaining ~41 questions.
Format
- Part 1 — No calculator: 5 items. Mental math, fraction sense, ratios, basic algebra. Designed to test number reasoning.
- Part 2 — Calculator + formula sheet: ~41 items. Algebra, geometry, data analysis, word problems with messy numbers.
- You can flag and return to any item within the part you're in.
- ~30% multiple-choice; the rest are fill-in, drop-down, drag-drop, and hot-spot.
Topic spine
- Arithmetic — order of operations, integer signs, properties.
- Fractions, decimals, percents — equivalence, conversion, percentage word problems.
- Algebra — linear equations and inequalities, systems, factoring, slope, intercepts.
- Geometry — area, perimeter, volume, Pythagorean theorem, similar figures, coordinate plane.
- Data analysis — mean / median / mode, probability, charts, scatter plots.
On-screen tools (Part 2 only)
- TI-30XS MultiView calculator — fractions, exponents, square roots, trig, log/ln, scientific notation.
- Formula sheet — area, perimeter, volume, slope, quadratic formula, simple interest, distance.
- Highlighter — for marking key numbers in long word problems.
